Description

Cubism is a simple yet challenging VR puzzlegame, in which players have to assemble increasingly complex shapes out of smaller puzzle pieces.

History

I've been developing Cubism in my spare time since June 2017. After building a first proof of concept over a weekend, I decided to develop the idea into a full game after receiving a lot of positive feedback from friends, colleagues, and people online.

My initial intent with the game was seeing what kind of puzzle mechanics could take advantage of the capabilities of VR without requiring a lot of complexity. With the first prototype I made, I found that solid dissection puzzles work pretty well in VR since the increased spatial perception of the medium helps players interpret complex 3d puzzles, and tracked controllers give them the dexterity to place puzzle pieces in a precise and intuitive way.

A free demo of Cubism is already available on Steam and Itch.io for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows MR. The full game will come out early in 2019, and will feature around 60 puzzles, good for hours of puzzle-solving fun.
